Happy Collecting!

Diane Johnson  recently added to her Ken collection.  Diane said: “This year I was fortunate enough to finally acquire some ‘holy grail’ outfits....Minty mint Jazz Concert # 1420, (‘66-‘67), Mint Bold Gold # 1436 (‘70), Mint The VIP Scene #1473 (‘71-‘72) and a totally mint, like new Busy Hands Ken (no snickering!)” Diane told me she got them from a fellow collector that was thinning out her collection. Lucky Diane!

Laura Maar, a self-proclaimed Midge fanatic, recently found one of the few Happy Family items she missed the first time around: Alan and Midge’s family Volvo.

Laura has been having a great time with it, and here are some of the pictures to prove it. Her only complaint: the license plate. It does seem odd that Midge and Alan have a personalized license plate that says “BARBIE”.

Debra Freeman has been busy!

In fact, she has been designing her own Kenswear collection for 2013.  Here is what Debra had to say about the collection: "Here it is the middle of May and Ken has finally started organizing his closet.  He has plans for plaid this summer and is mixing and matching a variety of Jackets, shirts and pants for just the right look. This began with him remembering an outfit from the ‘70's called Mod Madras #1828 and he wanted to duplicate that retro look in 2013. So he invited all his friends over to try on clothes.  Check out the cool outfits he put together to impress Barbie."

I love the bright colors and prints Debra has put together. Look at these skinny madras pants:  I want a pair for myself.  And look at the great fabric she used in the jacket (pictured below). Ryan looks super cool.

I think all these looks Debra has come up with are amazing, and I am looking for her room at Kenvention first thing!

Thanks for sharing, Debra.

Jonathan Hill (oh wait, that’s me) recently found this Superstar Fashion MOC: #5208 and I was surprised to find that the shirt was in a fabric variation.

I have also recently found another Superstar fashion that I have always wanted:     #2795. Not only did I find one, I found TWO!

I also got some new Ken shelves. I have just started putting some of my favorites on them. Although they don’t hold much of my collection, they make the most of a weird small place in my apartment. I look forward to spending time working on my displays.

Look what Jim Taylor just got. Those aren’t just any versions of #1931 from 1981 and 1982.  They are the prototypes. Incredible! The 1982 version was the very first Ken item I ever purchased, and is still my favorite. I remember singing this song as I put it on him. I would be a little jealous, but I know Jim will let me visit them anytime I want.
